Roland Inauen (non-party) has announced his resignation from the Appenzell Innerrhoden government. The governing mayor and president of the cantonal government will not stand for re-election at the 2025 cantonal assembly.

With his resignation in April 2025, Inauen will traditionally end his term of office as governing Landammann at the end of his current term of office, the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden wrote in a statement on Friday.

Roland Inauen was elected to the Innerrhoden government in 2013 and took over as head of the Department of Education. He was previously a member of the District Court of Appenzell from 1999 to 2007, serving as its president from 2006. From 2007 to 2013, he was a member of the cantonal court, from 2008 as President.
