SBB is closing the ticket counters at Andelfingen, Bauma, Bubikon, Dielsdorf, Pfäffikon ZH and Wald stations as of January 1, 2025: the reason given for the conversion to self-service stations is the very low frequency and ticket sales at these locations.

In a press release issued on Monday, SBB stated that it has a duty to use public funds economically and prudently. The number of customers in small travel centers in particular would fall sharply.

SBB already closed the counters at Dietlikon, Hinwil, Kloten, Männedorf and Oberwinterthur stations in the Zurich area on July 1, 2022. Even then, they pointed out that 95% of ticket purchases are made via digital and other self-service channels.

SBB therefore also wrote in its press release on Monday that it will remain "easy to buy tickets via various channels". They also point out that they have been renovating their medium-sized and large travel centers in the Zurich region since 2022 and adapting them to changing customer needs.
