The newly elected cantonal government published its government program for the years 2024 to 2028 on Monday. However, change - including demographics, digitalization, environmental influences, population development, the world of work and mobility - should not be an end in itself, he explained. Rather, "change should be combined with stability".

According to the government program, these "reliable factors" that characterize the canton of Schwyz include a liberal attitude, a high quality of life, a solid financial policy, good economic conditions, security and short decision-making processes. "These characteristics must not be sacrificed to change," the government program states.

For example, the cantonal government wants to take advantage of the opportunities offered by digitalization while preserving its established identity. In terms of financial policy, it is relying on the old recipes. "The state budget will remain balanced in the long term. State services are appropriate. They are financed with competitive taxes." In terms of economic policy, the focus will be on SMEs. "Moderate population growth" should contribute to the quality of life in the canton of Schwyz.
