At around 11.45 a.m., an 89-year-old man was driving on Gockhauserstrasse in the direction of Zurich. At the junction with Obere Geerenstrasse, he drove straight on and collided with a wall and a parked vehicle, according to the cantonal police.
The man suffered head injuries as a result of the collision and had to be taken to hospital by the ambulance service. The man died in hospital on Thursday night.
The accident was probably caused by a medical problem. The final investigations and the evaluation of the evidence are being carried out by the Zurich cantonal police and the Lake/Oberland public prosecutor's office.
Together with the cantonal police, the Dübendorf - Wangen-Brüttisellen fire department was on duty to direct traffic, as well as the Uster rescue service with an ambulance and the Bülach hospital rescue service with an emergency doctor.
