Shortly after 7.30 a.m., a 24-year-old woman was driving from Bözberg on Baslerstrasse towards the center of Brugg, the police reported. When the senior citizen tried to cross the road, she was hit by the car, thrown to the ground and seriously injured. When the emergency services arrived, the 83-year-old was responsive.

Why the driver had overlooked the pedestrian is still under investigation. Firefighters on their way back from an extinguishing operation happened to drive up to the scene of the accident, according to the police. They were on traffic duty and set up a detour.
