Simon Stocker wants to stand again for election to the Council of States in Schaffhausen. The SP politician announced this on Instagram on Wednesday. The ruling of the Federal Supreme Court must be accepted, even if it is a rejection of an equal family model.

Stocker wrote on Instagram that he and his wife had found a pragmatic solution to organize their lives, which take place professionally in different places in Switzerland, on an equal footing. The fact that the Federal Supreme Court considers their way of life to be incompatible with political office and that this has cost him his election is "disappointing and saddens us".

He was able to win the 2023 election "thanks to a very broad coalition". Stocker added that he was looking ahead and into the future. Planning for the election campaign starts today.
