A streetcar derailed at Limmatplatz in Zurich shortly before midday on Tuesday following an accident. It had apparently collided with a car.

The streetcar on line 17 was about to enter the Limmatplatz stop, as can be seen in pictures on various news portals. Zurich city police confirmed the accident between the streetcar and the car. There is no information about injuries so far.

The accident had a major impact on traffic. Streetcars 4, 13 and 17 were unable to run on the route between Bahnhofquai and Escher-Wyss-Platz. Bus 32 was canceled between Bucheggplatz and Kalkbreite. Private transport also had to be diverted.
