The motorboat that sank in Lake Lucerne on Tuesday evening was recovered on Friday morning. The boat, which was wrecked in the Küssnacht Basin in the municipality of Weggis LU, was brought to shore and handed over to the owner, Lucerne police announced.

Emergency services had already attempted to salvage the boat on Wednesday afternoon. However, the salvage work had to be halted due to a thunderstorm.

According to the police, the Lucerne water police, the Lucerne city fire department, divers from the Zurich cantonal police and the Poseidon diving group with its Kon-Tiki diving and salvage vessel were involved in the rescue operation.

It was not yet clear on Friday why the boat sank. The five people on board were picked up by another boat.
