The Lucerne Cantonal Hospital Sursee (Luks) wants to continue to provide emergency care in the Sursee region. In mid-September, the emergency practice Sursee AG announced that it would cease operations for financial reasons.

The Lucerne Cantonal Hospital sees a possible collaboration in a joint GP emergency practice operated by the cantonal hospital in cooperation with the medical association. This is how it is practiced at Wolhusen Hospital.

Sursee Hospital is also planning to merge the emergency ward and emergency practice in terms of space and operation in order to "further increase the efficiency and quality of emergency care."

The emergency practice Sursee AG, which is located on the grounds of Sursee Hospital, will close its doors at the end of 2024 for financial reasons. 13 medical practice assistants and 43 doctors will be given notice.

Despite the closure of the Sursee AG emergency practice, emergency care in the Sursee region can still be guaranteed, according to the statement. For minor injuries and illnesses, the Luks is aiming to work together with GPs.
