Born at 00.28 am The 2026 New Year's baby is called Malea

This year's first baby was born in Basel. Malea saw the light of day at 00:28, as announced by the University Hospital Basel on New Year's Day.

Malea was thus even quicker than little Emil, who was born at 01.32 in Zollikerberg ZH. Shortly after him, a boy named Vincent Irshad was born at 2.35 a.m. at the Hirslanden Clinic in Aarau.

He was followed by Alma at 2.40am in Nidwalden and Aurora at 2.43am at Aarau Cantonal Hospital, according to the hospitals' announcements.
