The city council published its report and proposal to the city council on Friday. According to the report, the containers will be made of wooden modules and meet the Minergie-A-Eco standard. They have a floor area of 170 square meters and are to be used for both teaching and childcare.
The city council justifies the purchase of the mobile school room units by stating that additional rooms often need to be made available in the individual school buildings at short notice. The five containers are to be used at the Würzenbach, Eichwäldli, Büttenen, Matt and Hubelmatt sites from August 2025.
The mobile classroom units will cost around CHF 8 million. In addition, there are personnel costs, so the City Council is requesting a loan of CHF 8.5 million from the Grand City Council.
