The 55-year-old economist wants to campaign for an open and united Canton of Bern. "And I want to work to reduce social inequalities and ensure citizen-oriented and high-quality public services, including through better public transport connections, particularly in the Bernese Jura," Gagnebin was quoted as saying in a press release issued by the SP Canton of Bern on Friday.

Hervé Gullotti has been a member of the Bernese Grand Council since 2017. He chaired it as the "highest Bernese" in 2021/22 and was also Vice-President of the parliamentary group. According to his party, Gullotti wants to change career direction.
