Three people were injured in a serious head-on collision between two cars in the Viamala tunnel on the A13 in Graubünden on Sunday evening. A 32-year-old driver was trapped in the wreckage and had to be cut out.

The violent collision occurred on a bend in the tunnel, as reported by the Graubünden cantonal police on Monday. The cars involved were totally damaged. The exact circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the police.

The 32-year-old driver from Switzerland was flown by a Rega helicopter to the cantonal hospital in Chur with serious injuries. An ambulance also took his pregnant passenger, who suffered moderate injuries, to the cantonal hospital. The 48-year-old German driver of the other vehicle escaped with minor injuries.
