Around 300 properties in the Oberseen district of Winterthur were temporarily without power on Sunday morning. The reason was a ground fault on a power line. This led to a chain reaction and the shutdown of several transformer stations, as reported by Stadtwerk Winterthur.

The incident on the power line in the direction of Bruderhaus occurred at around 11.46 a.m., according to the press release. Following the breakdown, transformer stations in the Oberseen, Eschenberg and Bruderhaus areas failed. The power outage lasted until 12.40 pm. The first properties were supplied with electricity again after 15 minutes, according to the press release from the municipal utilities.

The reason for the fault on the line was initially unclear. It is being clarified, it said. A construction site in connection with line work to the forestry yard could be ruled out as the cause.
