Silvia Hoffmann, cultural mediator and gender equality expert from Chur, was elected President of the Grisons Parliament on Thursday. The soon-to-be 70-year-old SP politician will chair the meetings of the 120-member Grand Council for a year and represent the parliament to the outside world as the highest-ranking woman in Graubünden in terms of protocol.

Hoffmann received 106 out of 110 valid votes. The Social Democrat, who has been a member of the Grand Council since 2018, replaces Chur confectioner and pastry chef Franz Sepp Caluori in this honorary political office.

Parliament elected Valérie Favre Accola, a member of the Davos SVP regional council, as Vice-President. The 51-year-old Head of Regional Development Prättigau/Davos received 113 out of 114 valid votes. She has also been a member of the cantonal parliament since 2018.
