At the end of July, 72 more unemployed people were registered at the seven regional employment centers (RAV) in Aargau than in the previous month. The unemployment rate thus remained unchanged at 2.6 percent, as reported by the Department of Economic Affairs and Home Affairs (DVI) on Tuesday.

9842 people were registered as unemployed at the end of July, 1908 more than in the previous year. The unemployment rate thus rose by 0.5 percentage points compared to July 2023. The number of vacancies registered with the Aargau RAV fell by 218 to 3360 in July 2024 compared to the previous month, according to the DVI.

On average, jobseekers who were registered in July spent 231 days looking for a job, two days less than in the previous month. The 50 to 64-year-olds took the longest to find a new job: on average, it took them 292 days to find a new job, according to the DVI. The figure was 226 days for 25 to 49-year-olds and 141 days for 15 to 24-year-olds.

The regional differences are significant: the unemployment rate was lowest in the district of Muri at 1.7 percent, highest in the district of Kulm at 3.2 percent and in the district of Zofingen at 3.0 percent.
