A 32-year-old man injured a policewoman and a police officer during an operation in an apartment in Waldstatt, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, on Monday night. A woman had alerted the police because the visitor did not want to leave her apartment after an argument.

When the patrol also asked the man to leave the apartment, he resisted and physically attacked the police officers, as reported by the Appenzell Ausserrhoden cantonal police on Monday. Only by using a destabilization device, a so-called Taser, were the police officers able to restrain the man with handcuffs.

During the operation, the policewoman suffered hematomas and the police officer sustained a laceration to the head, it was reported. Both were treated as outpatients in the hospital's emergency room. The unruly man will now be charged with violence and threats against officers and violations of the Narcotics Act.
