Diplomacy Competition Commission sees no discrimination against cabs at Zurich Airport
The Competition Commission has rejected the complaint of two Zurich cab associations. They challenged Zurich Airport's concept, which only allows one company to use the stands without restriction.

Other cab companies would be discriminated against by the restrictions, wrote the Zurich Taxi Association and the Zurich Taxi Section in a statement on Friday. According to their calculations, the companies would lose around 30 million francs a year.
Non-licensed cabs are only permitted to pick up customers and take them to the airport on request. Zurich Airport justifies the restriction with the limited space available.
The concession was put out to public tender, and the Secretariat of the Competition Commission (ComCo) deemed this procedure to be transparent and non-discriminatory at the time. The Airport Taxi company was awarded the concession from 2020.
The cab associations unsuccessfully argued that the cantonal cab and limousine law, which was amended on January 1, 2024, imposes new requirements. They are now demanding that the concession be deemed invalid by January 1, 2026 at the latest.
