A wolf killed a sheep in Gais AR on Tuesday night. The exact analyses are still pending. It is therefore still unclear whether it is the same wolf that killed livestock in Teufen in April and in Wolfhalden in May.

The flock of sheep affected was properly fenced in, according to the Appenzell Ausserrhoden wildlife authority. The criteria for flock protection were met. The livestock owners in Ausserrhoden have now been informed of the renewed presence of a wolf via SMS alert.

DNA samples have been taken from the sheep that was killed. They are being compared with those of the male wolf from the Italian peninsula that killed a deer in Teufen and an alpaca in Wolfhalden in the spring.
