A man was attacked in Winterthur on Wednesday evening who, according to his own account, was waiting on a park bench for an internet acquaintance. The man was slightly injured in the attack by three to four unknown men. According to the Winterthur city police, the motive and background of the attack are still unclear.

As they reported on Thursday, the 23-year-old Swiss man told the police that he had met a woman via the social network Snapchat. After a few days and numerous messages, she suggested a meeting on Wednesday evening at Bergblumenrain in Winterthur-Wülflingen.
As he was waiting at the agreed location, the masked men suddenly appeared, surrounded him, sprayed him with pepper spray and threatened him with batons.
According to the communiqué, the man tried to flee but was grabbed by the perpetrators and injured in the scuffle. In the end, he was able to escape into the garden of a nearby house and a passer-by alerted the police. The three unknown perpetrators fled downhill through the Bergblumenrain.
The manhunt for the unidentified men is underway. The police have issued an appeal for witnesses.
