Until now, parents of school-age children up to the age of 18 have received an allowance of CHF 300 in the canton of Zug. From next year, they will receive 330 francs, as announced by the Zug Health Department on Wednesday. Anyone over the age of 18 who is in education is to receive 385 francs instead of 350 francs.
With the planned increase, the cantonal government is going well beyond the minimum federal requirements, according to the press release. According to federal law, the cantons must pay a child allowance of at least 215 francs per month and child.
The government is also planning to reduce employers' contributions to the family equalization fund. In future, companies will pay 1.35% of the AHV-liable payroll instead of 1.6%. This reduction is possible because the Zug economy has developed very positively, the report continued.
Zug's political parties, associations and the compensation funds have until October 15 to submit their comments.
