US free climber Alex Honnold's planned ascent of the more than 500-metre-high Taipei 101 skyscraper has been postponed by one day to Sunday (09:00 local time, 02:00 CET). This was announced by the streaming service Netflix, which plans to broadcast the action live. The decision was made for safety reasons due to poor weather conditions. On Saturday morning (local time), it had rained lightly in the Taiwanese capital.

The 40-year-old Honnold has been preparing for the ascent of the skyscraper for around two and a half months. Netflix calls the spectacle "Skyscraper live". The live broadcast of the daring feat in particular has already attracted criticism.
When it was completed in 2004, Taipei 101 was the tallest skyscraper in the world. It has since been replaced by the Burj Khalifa in Dubai with a height of almost 830 meters; Taipei 101 is currently the eleventh tallest building in the world.
