The appointment is the result of a thorough and independent selection process led by the Board of Directors with the support of an external recruitment consultancy, the French-speaking Swiss company announced on Wednesday. Many strong internal and external candidates were examined.
The decision reflects the Board of Directors' confidence in Spiliopoulos' proven leadership skills and in-depth industry expertise. It is assumed that he will be able to implement Temenos' long-term strategic goals. The search for a new CFO will be initiated.
Spiliopoulos, the former Chief Analyst at Bank Vontobel, joined Temenos in 2019 as Chief Financial Officer. In his role as interim CEO, he clearly demonstrated that he was the right choice for the position of CEO, commented Chairman of the Board of Directors Thibault de Tersant. And he had already played a key role in the development and implementation of the strategy.
Strategy and targets confirmed
The management had already confirmed the long-term business plans following the resignation of Brulard, who had only been head of Temenos since May 1, 2024 and stepped down three months ago without a clear explanation. The strategy, which was announced in November 2024, had been drawn up by the entire management team and approved by the Board of Directors and was now being implemented, said Spiliopoulos at the end of October.
It was announced at the 2024 Investor Day that the Geneva-based company would become leaner and more efficient and that the product portfolio would be simplified. This also included the sale of Multifonds, the fund management business, at the end of May 2025. The new management also wanted to focus more on the US market in particular.
On Wednesday, Temenos once again confirmed its targets for the end of the 2025 financial year and the medium-term targets up to 2028. The forecast for 2025 had only been raised at the end of October with the publication of good figures for the third quarter.
