On Thursday, the Schwyz Cantonal Council unanimously elected
- unanimously elected Dominik Zehnder (FDP, Freienbach) as its Vice-President and appointed two scrutineers.
- elected Education Director Michael Stähli (center, Lachen) as Schwyz Landammann with 87 out of 99 votes and Environment Director Sandro Patierno (center, Schwyz) as Landstatthalter for two years each with 89 out of 98 votes.
- unanimously acknowledged and approved the 2023 annual reports of the Cantonal Court and the Administrative Court.
- acknowledged and approved the 2023 activity report of the Cantonal Public Information and Data Protection Officer by 97 votes to 1
- elected the President and six members of the Cantonal Court, the President and ten members of the Administrative Court, the President and nine members of the Criminal Court, the President and three members of the Coercive Measures Court, the Chief Public Prosecutor and his deputy as well as the deputy of the Public Information and Data Protection Officer.
- appointed the members of the Valuation Commission for Expropriations.
- elected the standing committees of the Cantonal Council for four years: State Economic Commission (15 members), Law and Justice Commission (11 members), Commission for Buildings, Roads and Facilities (11 members), Commission for Spatial Planning, Environment, Energy and Transport (11 members), Commission for Health and Social Security (11 members), Commission for Education and Culture (11 members), and Supervisory Commission for the Cantonal Bank (5 members)
- the Introductory Act to the Federal Act on the Promotion of Nursing Training was adopted by 77 votes to 19.
- Expenditure of CHF 44 million for the renovation and partial new construction of the Ausserschwyz cantonal school in Nuolen approved by 95 votes to 0.
- Expenditure of CHF 2.4 million for 2025 to 2028 in favor of the Werner Oechslin Library, Einsiedeln, rejected by 54 votes to 40.
- the center motion "Limiting the remuneration (fixed and variable) of the Executive Board of Schwyzer Kantonalbank" was approved by 50 votes to 47.
- approved the granting of cantonal citizenship to 87 foreign nationals.
- two postulates and one interpellation were discussed and resolved.
