Despite all the crises, Siemens continues to post record profits. On balance, the company earned 10.4 billion euros in the past fiscal year, as announced in Munich. This is 16 percent more than a year ago.

In view of the figures, CEO Roland Busch spoke of a milestone: "For the third time in a row, we have achieved a record profit after tax and have grown in the mid single-digit percentage range both in terms of new orders and sales." Siemens is "stronger than ever".

Siemens owes the jump in profits to a one-off effect worth billions from the sale of Innomotics, which had already taken effect in the first quarter, as well as booming business in the Smart Infrastructure division. In addition, Digital Industries' recently weakening automation technology business is recovering and saw slight growth in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year.

The subsidiary Siemens Healthineers also contributed to profits. However, Siemens intends to sell its majority stake in this company. As the company announced on Wednesday evening, it intends to sell shares with a current value of around 15 billion euros to its shareholders in order to reduce its stake in Healthineers by 30 percentage points from the current 67 percent. However, details are not yet known. The aim of the move is to enable Siemens Healthineers to focus more strongly on fast-growing markets.

Next reorganization pending

And this is not the only reorganization: together with its annual figures, Siemens presented its One Tech Company project, with which the Group aims to grow faster. Among other things, turnover in the digital business is to be doubled by 2030. Siemens also wants to expand its position in growth regions - specifically with increased investment in the USA, China and India - and invest 1 billion euros in its AI offerings over the next three years.
