  • On Friday, the IT system of Swiss air traffic control Skyguide failed.
  • No planes were able to take off for 90 minutes and the number of landings was reduced by half
  • Skyguide reports that the IT problems have been fully resolved. A hacker attack can be ruled out, but the reasons for the outage have not yet been found.

In addition, there were 31 flights with delays of up to two hours, as Zurich Airport reported on Saturday at the request of Keystone-SDA.

Due to an IT breakdown at Skyguide air traffic control, no planes were able to take off from 3.00 to 4.30 pm. The number of aircraft landing was reduced by half during these 90 minutes.

Skyguide announced on Friday that the IT breakdown had been fully rectified. Investigations into the causes are ongoing, but a hacker attack can be ruled out.
