On Tuesday, the supporters of the "Cash is freedom" initiative launched their campaign in front of the media in Bern. The initiative and the direct counter-proposal to it will be put to the ballot box on March 8.
The initiative was launched by the Freedom Movement Switzerland (FBS) and is politically supported by the group schweiz-macher.ch. Its aim is to ensure the supply of cash.
Anyone who wants to should be able to pay with cash everywhere, as the FBS writes on its initiative website. Accordingly, the federal government should have to ensure that sufficient banknotes and coins are available.
The franc should also be protected. The people and the cantons would have to agree if it were to be replaced by another currency.
