Thousands of people celebrate a colorful Pride in Bern

The procession reached the Bundesplatz after 4 pm. In front of the parliament building, the participants wanted to celebrate with "music, politics, drag and empowerment", as the organizers had announced in advance.

Bern Pride opened at 2 pm on Waisenhausplatz in the center of Bern. In changeable weather conditions, the demonstrators took the route towards Bundesplatz after several speeches.

The parade was a colorful mix, and the participants danced in a cheerful mood to loud music played by DJs on three demonstration floats. Numerous rainbow flags were waved.

The route led past the Zytglogge and through the old town down to the Matte district, then along the River Aare up to the Kleine Schanze and via Bundesgasse to Bundesplatz.

The participants wanted to set an example for equality, the visibility of queer people and social cohesion. In a world where queer life is once again under pressure in many places, it is all the more important to be visible, loud and show solidarity, according to the organizing association "BernPride".

There were temporary closures and traffic restrictions along the route of the parade.
