A police spokesperson confirmed corresponding reports on news portals at the request of Keystone-SDA. The Diamant special unit was also deployed.
Apparently, one of the perpetrators who was caught had stated that he had placed a dangerous object at the scene of the crime, as the police wrote on Saturday afternoon. For this reason, the adjacent railroad line also had to be closed. The authorities reopened the area shortly after 8 o'clock. Nothing was found.
Previously, the two perpetrators from Slovakia and France rammed the window of the store with a vehicle. Around 50 handguns had been stolen from the same store in a break-in at the end of May, the spokesman added.
More gun thefts in Switzerland
Thefts from Swiss gun stores have increased in recent days. A possible connection with the Pfungen case will be investigated, said the Zurich police spokesman. They are currently investigating whether the 52 and 24-year-old men who have now been caught can also be charged with other crimes.
On July 17, unknown persons stole handguns in Altstätten SG. On July 21, perpetrators broke into gun stores in Evionnaz VS and Gossau SG. In the Evionnaz case, two suspects were caught within a day. A third person is on the run.
