Trial Three people on trial after death in Biel indoor swimming pool
Following a fatal accident in the indoor swimming pool of the Biel/Bienne Congress Center in September 2021, three people have been on trial in Biel/Bienne since Monday. They are accused of involuntary manslaughter.

They are the teacher of the eight-year-old girl who died in an accident during a class trip to the pool, the pool attendant at the Kongresshaus and his supervisor. The lifeguard is said not to have had sufficient qualifications to supervise the water and pool.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of September 16, 2021. According to police reports at the time, the girl was in the pool. Suddenly, she was spotted floating motionless in the water.
The pool attendant and others present rescued the child and initiated resuscitation measures. These were continued by the rescue services. The girl from the canton of Bern was flown to hospital by helicopter. She died there shortly afterwards.
The verdict of the court of first instance in Biel will be announced on October 30.
