Several drivers were caught by the police in the canton of Fribourg on Friday. A total of three scooter drivers were injured due to dangerous driving. And three drivers were stopped for speeding.
In La Tour-de-Trême at around 4 p.m., the driver of a scooter and his passenger were driving without a helmet and in a dangerous manner and crashed, as reported by the Fribourg cantonal police on Saturday. They lost control of the vehicle and crashed.
The 21-year-old driver was injured in the head and ankle and was taken by helicopter to Lausanne University Hospital. The 18-year-old co-driver had to be taken to hospital with a thigh injury. As the driver was driving without a license, he will be charged, the police added.
At around 9 p.m. on the same day, a 34-year-old man was riding a scooter in Fribourg without a helmet. He was stopped by a police patrol and subjected to an alcohol test. The result was too high. In addition, he did not have a driver's license and had stolen the license plate of his vehicle. He was asked not to drive until the authorities had made a decision.
However, the driver drove on anyway, because at around 11.20 p.m. the Operations and Alarm Center received a report of an accident in the construction site area of the Pérolles Bridge. The officers discovered that the vehicle they had previously checked had crashed there.
According to the report, the same driver was stopped a few hundred meters further on with injuries. After the investigation, he went to a doctor. He was reported to the relevant authorities and his vehicle was confiscated.
Three speeders were caught by the police in Les Sciernes d'Albeuve. In the late afternoon, two motorcyclists aged 33 and 35 and a 19-year-old car driver were stopped for speeding in Les Sciernes d'Albeuve within six minutes of each other. The motorcyclists were driving at 145 km/h and 156 km/h instead of the permitted 80 kilometers per hour.
The car driver, who was traveling at 146 km/h, was arrested at his place of residence. Their driving licenses were confiscated immediately due to the speeding offences under the "Via Sicura" procedure. They will be reported to the public prosecutor's office, according to the statement.
