Titlis Bergbahnen made less profit in the 2024/25 financial year after a positive one-off effect in the previous year. However, visitor numbers increased significantly compared to the previous year.

The railroad operator transported 1.16 million passengers in the financial year ending October. This is 4.3 percent more than in the previous year, as the long-established Engelberg-based company announced on Friday. However, this was around 7 percent short of the all-time record of 1.24 million passengers set in 2018/19.

The number of group travelers increased by 2.6 percent, while the number of individual travelers rose by 4.3 percent. The strongest increase was in the number of snow sports guests, which rose by 8.5%.

Income below previous year's figure - one-off effect weighs on result

As a result, traffic revenue also rose by 6.6% to CHF 53.3 million. Nevertheless, operating income fell by 5.1 percent to 85.7 million francs. The company attributes this to a positive special effect in the previous year, when the sale of a plot of land brought in 8 million francs.

In addition, operating expenses increased by 4.3 percent to 57.7 million francs. This was due to higher personnel expenses as a result of parallel day-to-day operations and construction work on the Titlis.

Operating profit (EBITDA) fell by a good 21 percent to 23.6 million francs. This left a net profit of CHF 7.7 million - compared to CHF 15.0 million in the previous year. The dividend is to remain unchanged at 80 centimes per share.

Titlis Tower to drive future growth

In future, the business of the Engelberg-based railroad operator should continue to pick up thanks to the ongoing renovations on the Titlis. According to the company, an important milestone in the fall was the removal of the scaffolding on the Titlis Tower, which is due to open at the end of May 2026.

The media response was very positive and the external perception of the destination has improved noticeably. The railroad operator hopes that the renovations on the Titlis will result in "sustainable growth" and additional earning power.
