The Swiss Federation of Trade Unions (SGB) supports the treaties negotiated by the Federal Council with the European Union. This is subject to the proviso that Parliament supports the planned wage protection measures without any compromises.

"They are a prerequisite for ensuring that the European package serves the interests of employees," writes the trade union federation in a press release on Wednesday. The free movement of persons in conjunction with effective accompanying measures is ultimately a step forward for Swiss employees, it says.
The trade unions, on the other hand, reject the proposed electricity agreement. The SGB fears that the associated opening of the electricity market would jeopardize a stable, affordable and ecological electricity supply. The energy supply must therefore remain a public task.
The trade unions are also calling for the treaty package to be subject to an optional referendum, as has been the case to date. A majority of the cantons, on the other hand, should not be politically instrumentalized or extended, they claim in the press release. "The Bilaterals III are not a new treaty."
