On Friday, representatives of the Swiss Federation of Trade Unions (SGB), the umbrella organization for employees Travail Suisse, the SP and the Greens presented their No campaign to the media in Bern. The SVP is pursuing an "extreme plan" with its referendum proposal, according to a press release.
The rigid population cap is a massive attack on the purchasing power of the working population. The impending recession would lead to the destruction of jobs as well as lower wages and pensions. Without bilateral agreements, wage protection would also disappear.
On June 14, the people and the cantons will vote on the initiative. All major parties except the SVP reject it.
