The trade unions have described the 2025 wage round as a mixed bag. Real wages have fallen significantly. Many employees will have less money at their disposal at the end of the month due to sharply rising health insurance premiums, they said at a media conference in Bern.

Real wages in 2023 were at the same level as in 2015, according to the media conference held by Travailsuisse, Syna and Transfair on Monday. They have fallen significantly in the last three years.
Although there has been a slight recovery, the economic upturn is still not being felt by employees in terms of wages. The 2025 wage negotiations will do little to change this. It is true that in sectors with collective labor agreements and union representation, the trend is significantly better.
However, despite the economic upturn, purchasing power is declining - an unacceptable development, the report continued. A significant wage gap has built up since 2021, particularly in the healthcare, retail and catering sectors.
