On Saturday, Frenchmen Mathéo Jacquemoud and Samuel Equy broke the record for the ascent and descent on skis between Chamonix and the summit of Mont Blanc (4806 meters). They covered the distance in 4 hours, 41 minutes and 24 seconds.

The two mountain guides beat the record of 4 hours, 43 minutes and 24 seconds set by Italian William Boffelli in June 2025 by two minutes, as reported by the Italian news agency Ansa.

"Sam (editor's note: Equy) reached Mont Blanc in 3:41 hours and I followed him in 3:42 hours," Jacquemoud reported on his Instagram account. After a steep descent, he caught up with Equy so that they arrived in Chamonix together. "I'm very happy to end the season this way," he wrote.

The 35-year-old Jacquemoud had already set the record for the traverse between Chamonix and Zermatt together with Boffelli at the beginning of April, covering the distance of just over 100 kilometers in 13 hours, 27 minutes and 49 seconds.

Equy won the Patrouille des Glaciers (PdG) last weekend together with Xavier Gachet and William Bon Mardion. The trio covered the 57.5-kilometre route with 4386 vertical meters between Verbier and Zermatt in 5 hours, 43 minutes and 9 seconds, making them the first French trio to win the PdG.
