On Monte Rosa, a German mountaineer has suffered head injuries after falling from the ridge to the Dufourspitze.

On Monday afternoon, the Italian mountain rescue service rescued a German mountaineer from Monte Rosa who had suffered an accident. His uninjured climbing partner was rescued by the Swiss rescuers. The injured man had fallen from the ridge to the Dufourspitze, as reported by the Italian news agency Adnkronos.
The rescue team had been alerted by a person from Germany who had been informed of the mountain emergency by her relatives. The Piedmont mountain rescue team flew a helicopter to the scene of the accident between the Zumstein and Dufourspitze peaks. One of the rescuers got out and found the fallen climber. He had head injuries.
His uninjured climbing partner was still on the ridge, but was no longer able to continue alone. The crew of the Italian helicopter flew the injured man to hospital. The companion was rescued by Swiss rescuers.
