A head-on collision between a car and a minibus occurred in Attiswil BE late on Friday afternoon. Two people were so seriously injured that they died at the scene of the accident.

The car involved in the accident was driving in Attiswil on the bypass road between Wiedlisbach and Solothurn in the direction of Solothurn, as reported by the Bern cantonal police on Saturday. For reasons still to be clarified, it crossed into the oncoming lane near the cantonal border and collided head-on with an oncoming minibus.
As a result of the collision, the car slid down the slope on the side of the oncoming lane and came to a standstill in the trees there. The driver of the car was trapped in the accident and had to be rescued by the fire department.
Despite resuscitation measures, he died at the scene of the accident. The passenger in the minibus also died at the scene. There are clues to the identities of the two fatalities, but formal identification is still pending. The driver of the minibus was seriously injured and taken to hospital.
