On Monday afternoon, two people fell and died on a climbing tour on the Lobhorn crossing in Isenfluh.
The report of a mountain accident near Isenfluh (municipality of Lauterbrunnen) shortly after the Zipfelmütze on the Lobhorn crossing reached the Bern cantonal police on Monday shortly after 12.30 pm. According to current information, several rope teams were on the Lobhorn crossing when, for reasons still to be clarified, a rope team with two people fell.
Third parties immediately alerted the rescue services. However, they were only able to determine the death of the two casualties on site. They were a 54-year-old Swiss man and a 56-year-old Swiss woman from the canton of Basel-Stadt.
Various services of the Bern cantonal police, two helicopters from Air Glaciers and specialists from Swiss Alpine Rescue were deployed. The Bern cantonal police have launched an investigation into the accident under the direction of the regional public prosecutor's office in Oberland.
