The slight economic growth at the beginning of the year thus continues to have little impact on the labor market. Unemployment in the euro countries also remained unchanged at 6.4 percent. According to Eurostat estimates, a good 13 million people were looking for work across the EU, more than eleven million of them in the 21 euro countries.

As in previous months, Spain (11.7 percent) and Greece (10.6 percent) had the highest unemployment rates. The lowest rates were in the Czech Republic (2.7 percent) and Poland (3.0 percent). Eurostat puts the unemployment rate for Germany at 3.3 percent.
