At the end of November, a total of 138,860 people were registered as unemployed in the regional employment centers (RAV), as reported by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco) on Thursday. This was 3,648 more people than in October.
According to Seco, practically the entire increase is due to seasonal effects. Seasonally adjusted, the number of unemployed rose by only 40 people.
More jobseekers - fewer vacancies
The number of jobseekers also rose. Compared to October, it rose by 6,188 to 225,884 jobseekers. As a result, the jobseeker rate rose to 4.8 percent from 4.7 percent in the previous month.
On the other hand, the situation regarding job vacancies deteriorated. In November 2025, 32,670 vacancies were registered with the RAV. This is a significant drop of 6.6 percent compared to the previous month.
Seco publishes data on short-time work with a time lag: at the end of August, 8,592 people were affected by short-time work in Switzerland. This was 3.5% more than in July. The number of affected company departments climbed by 10.1 percent to 535.
