It had been announced as one of the most severe in recent years. According to US media, extreme cold is making the clean-up work more difficult. However, the chaotic situation in air traffic with thousands of cancellations should return to normal in the next few days.

Freezing cold remains - until the beginning of February

The weather service has warned that it will remain unusually cold in the coming days, even for this time of year. According to the forecast, the low temperatures will continue to affect the south and east of the country in particular.

Even parts of Florida could be colder than usual. Some US regions could see the lowest temperatures in years. Meteorologists do not expect milder weather until the beginning of February.
