Following the US presidential election, the Bluesky platform has seen a significant increase in user numbers. In the last week alone, 700,000 new users were added.

The Bluesky platform, which is considered an alternative to the X platform operated by Elon Musk, has seen a significant increase in user numbers since the US presidential election. According to information provided by the company to the technology blog "The Verge", 700,000 new users have registered in the past week.

The majority of these new users are from the United States. Despite the growth, Bluesky remains significantly smaller with 14.5 million users than X, which was once acquired by Musk as Twitter and presumably has hundreds of millions of users. However, Musk himself does not disclose exact user numbers.

Challenges and growth

So far, Bluesky has had difficulties expanding its user base. In February, the platform still had four million users. A significant increase to ten million users was recorded in mid-September after X was temporarily blocked in Brazil.

Influence of Elon Musk

Elon Musk, who is known as a tech billionaire and Tesla boss, actively supports Donald Trump and has become a close confidant of the US President-elect. Under his leadership, X has abolished previous measures against misinformation and conspiracy theories. Critics accuse X of tolerating hate speech, which the company denies. In recent days, some users have announced that they are leaving the platform due to developments under Musk.
