This significantly exceeded the previous year's record of CHF 830 million, as an Edelweiss spokesperson announced on Thursday at the request of the news agency AWP. Adjusted operating profit (adj. EBIT) climbed to 81 million francs from 71 million a year ago. The operating profit margin improved to 9.0 percent from 8.5 percent a year ago.
Edelweiss has thus exceeded its own expectations in terms of turnover and met its own expectations in terms of operating profit. In an interview with AWP last August, airline CEO Bernd Bauer had forecast sales of CHF 870 million and an EBIT of between CHF 70 and 85 million.
The number of passengers should increase to 3 million, Bauer had said. Edelweiss reached precisely this figure in 2024 and thus made a precision landing. In 2023, the sister airline of Swiss still carried 2.7 million passengers.
The number of flights increased by 7.9 percent to 20,400. However, the capacity utilization of the aircraft fell slightly: On average, 82 out of 100 seats were occupied after 83 in the previous year. Bauer therefore failed to achieve its goal of improving the load factor to 85 percent.
