The highest temperature so far this year in Switzerland was measured in the Valais cantonal capital of Sion. Late on Tuesday afternoon, 34.4 degrees Celsius was recorded there, according to the website of the Federal Office of Meteorology.

The measured values in Sion thus exceeded the previous annual records for 2024. 33.5 degrees were measured in Chur, Graubünden, on July 15 and 34.3 degrees in Biasca in Ticino on Monday a week ago.
Around 5 p.m., the temperature in Sion even rose to 34.7 degrees, according to the website of MeteoSwiss (Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology).
