The Sunday Alliance bases this finding on a study by the Interdisciplinary Center for Gender Studies at the University of Bern, which it presented to the media in Bern on Friday. The center concludes that Sunday work affects the physical, mental and social well-being not only of employees, but also of their families.

This is particularly the case when there are few opportunities to organize working hours. Women, migrants and precarious workers have to work on Sundays more often than average.

According to the study, the health consequences range from sleep disorders to cardiovascular diseases and depression. Without periods of rest at the weekend, the risk of emotional exhaustion increases.
