The internationally established sunflower lanyard is also known as the Sunflower Lanyard. It is intended for people with disabilities such as autism, ADHD or Parkinson's disease, which are not visible.
Anyone wishing to wear a sunflower lanyard can obtain one at meeting points for travelers with reduced mobility, among other places, according to a press release issued on Wednesday. The ribbon is free of charge. The introduction of the Sunflower lanyard is a further contribution to greater inclusion at Zurich Airport.
Swiss also announced on Wednesday that it will be part of the "Sunflower Initiative" from November. Wearing the lanyard does not replace an escort or wheelchair service, nor does it enable preferential or faster progress, for example at check-in, security checks or boarding, writes Swiss. Rather, it is about awareness, respect and empathy that employees show to those affected.
SBB introduced the lanyard for travelers with invisible disabilities in June at selected stations in the cantons of Zurich, Geneva, St. Gallen, Zug and Vaud. Nationwide use is planned from 2026.
