There were many accidents on the snow-covered roads of Zurich: the Zurich cantonal police recorded around 150 accidents in its catchment area between Thursday evening at 6 pm and Friday morning at 6 am. There were further accidents in the cities of Zurich and Winterthur.

As a rule, there were only dents to the car or other material damage, as the cantonal police reported on Friday on request. In around half a dozen of the reported accidents, people suffered undetermined injuries.

In the city of Zurich, the city police registered 18 traffic accidents, although not all of them were related to the snow, as was reported on request. There were no injuries. The Winterthur city police have so far registered three accidents in which no people have been injured either.

The number of accidents in the canton of Zurich is likely to end up being somewhat higher; a few collisions are also likely to have occurred on the roads on Friday morning.

The snow had the expected effects on the rail network: In and around the city of Zurich, for example, there was "irregular operation on all lines due to slippery snow and ice" until late morning on Friday, according to the Zurich public transport company (VBZ).

On Thursday evening, VBZ had suspended bus services in the city and agglomeration, and streetcar lines were only running irregularly. Meanwhile, the Zurich Transport Association (ZVV) reported a barrier disruption in the Zurich Oberland on Friday morning. Otherwise, the S-Bahn trains - according to the online timetable - often ran a few minutes late.
