The High Court thus confirms the judgment of the court of first instance, as can be seen from the ruling, which is available to Keystone-SDA. The accused is to pay the relatives of the then 66-year-old victim CHF 83,000 in compensation. The verdict is not yet final.
The 39-year-old is alleged to have shot the Italian at close range in a car in Zurich-Schwamendingen in 2019. According to the indictment, he owed the victim 350,000 francs and was unable to repay them.
The accused denied the crime throughout. His defense lawyer argued at the trial in April that the prosecution had focused one-sidedly on his client. The verdict was delayed because the court had to clarify the defense lawyer's new motions for evidence.
