A 33-year-old Swiss man is alleged to have illegally imported dog puppies into Switzerland and offered them for sale. The Zurich public prosecutor's office has filed charges against the dog dealer at the Bülach district court.

The 33-year-old Swiss national will stand trial for commercial fraud, forgery of documents and multiple counts of cruelty to animals, as announced by the Zurich public prosecutor's office on Wednesday. Between the end of July 2020 and the beginning of January 2021, he is alleged to have offered dog puppies for sale on the internet, allegedly of Swiss origin, in 23 cases.

The public prosecutor's office is asking the court for a partial prison sentence, a fine and a fine.
